103 Courses

A 103 course may be taken only after both the 101 and 102 courses have been successfully completed. The 103 course addresses the competency of designing and managing a personal activity program that incorporates healthy lifestyle choices. This course contributes to the development of responsible behaviours leading to the promotion and improvement of health. The learning situation will require the application of fundamental knowledge and experiences acquired in the 101 and 102 Physical Education courses. The student will explore a variety of health-related activities and be responsible for choosing, performing and scheduling activities appropriate to meet personal needs, interests and abilities. Theoretical and practical work in class (30 hours) and out of class (15 hours) will provide students with the opportunity to share and evaluate ideas and to apply new learning by working on personal activity programs. The topic specified in the course title (e.g “Dance Activities”) indicates the main theme of weekly class activities. Other physical activities will be included according to the interests of class members. All courses include group and individual work (practical and written) in order to refine the skills needed to plan, execute and evaluate an effective personalized activity plan.
