Women’s week at Dawson
This is just a reminder that Women’s/Gender Studies will be occupying Conrod’s from March 6 – 8, and you are all welcome to join us.聽Students, faculty and staff have been working hard to get everything organized and ready for next week. I can’t tell you how excited I am by this strong group of people making these few days meaningful in their own way. Please come out and support us and bring or send your students! You will learn something, I promise.
Monday March 6聽will welcome a variety of interesting Dawson community groups and聽performers. Come and enjoy some vegan treats while learning about the pay gap at the Equity Bake Sale, chat with a student in Gina Granter’s class about reusable menstruation products, or buy t-shirts, pins and more for a good cause聽(Rock Camp for Girls + Women Aware to name a couple).
Indigenous speaker聽Marie Jos茅e Parent聽will also be presenting Monday (2:30-3:30). Her chosen topic:聽Colonization, Indigenous Youth and Contemporary Self-Governance (Presenting in English and French)聽
We are also pleased to announce that聽Sue Montgomary聽(interim director of communications for the inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) will be聽addressing those who want to participate in the femicide vigil being organized by student聽Florencia Vallejo Ortiz during the week. Check out our schedule online for more details about that and all upcoming events:聽/womens-gender-studies/iww-2017/
Like last year, we will be happy to serve you some tea throughout the event (with your consent). This time in partnership with聽David’s Tea.
