Fr茅d茅rique’s journey from law to sports journalism
Fr茅d茅rique, a law graduate, was unsure if a career in law was the right path for her. Following her mother’s advice, she decided to study radio and television instead. After starting out in general and cultural reporting, she discovered her passion for sports journalism when she saw a reporter interview tennis legend Roger Federer following a match.
Determined to pursue her newfound passion, she sent her resume to RDS in January 2011. Within a few days, she made her first report for the sports channel at the age of 25.
Six months later, Fr茅d茅rique was recruited by the new TVA Sports channel, where she began her journey as a sports journalist.
Over the years, Fr茅d茅rique has covered a wide range of sports, from the Canadiens’ training sessions to boxing galas and soccer games. She has worked as a sports columnist on LCN’s morning show Le Qu茅bec Matin and Salut Bonjour!, and has also served as a sports anchor.
Her hard work and dedication paid off in August 2017, when she was given the opportunity to interview tennis players at the Rogers Cup. She interviewed Roger Federer five times in four days, making her dream come true.
In addition to her love of sports journalism, Fr茅d茅rique has a thirst for knowledge and is interested in international politics. She also has a great passion for fitness and nutrition.
More recently, Fr茅d茅rique has been covering the CF Montr茅al until the end of 2022. In the meantime, she was recruited by LCN to become the anchor of the weekend edition of Qu茅bec matin, a position she still holds. Her transition from law to sports journalism exemplifies the significance of pursuing one’s passions and aspirations.
Christine Long’s adventure-filled career
Christine Long is not your typical journalist. She has lived an adventurous life that has taken her around the world. During her high school and CEGEP years, she worked as a photographer in Banff, Alberta, and London, England.
After completing a BA in English and Communications and a Public Relations Management certificate from McGill University, Christine joined the Canadian Forces while working part-time as a DJ at CHOM-FM.
To break from her late-night rock ‘n’ roll life, Christine moved to Tokyo, Japan, for two years, where she worked in English news radio at NHK and as a DJ at WAVE FM. She then travelled extensively throughout Asia for six months.
For the past 20 years, Christine has been working at CTV Montreal as an arts and entertainment reporter and producer. Her job takes her to Montreal’s hot spots and gives her the opportunity to meet local and international artists.
Christine is also a proud parent of two teenagers and supports various charitable organizations, including Rosie Animal Adoption, The West Island Women’s Centre, and the Missing Children’s Network. Her adventurous spirit and passion for life are a testament to the importance of following your dreams and taking risks.
