Q & A with Jonathon Sumner, Dean of Science, Medical Studies and Engineering

  1. What do you like best about working at Dawson?

Jonathon: Dawson is an amazing place. We have a wide variety of programs and a diverse student population supported by a large faculty that makes for a campus experience that is always interesting.

  1. Why are you excited about your new role?

Jonathon: The upcoming academic year will be exciting with the implementation of the revised Electrical Engineering Technology program, the revised Social Service program, the revised Science program, and the inauguration of the new Science, Computer Science and Mathematics program. That being said, I am most looking forward to supporting students and finding ways that we can improve their experience while at Dawson.

  1. What do you think are the greatest assets and challenges in your department?

Jonathon: There are a few upcoming challenges, not the least of which will be adjusting to the full implementation of Law 14 and teaching in French. Our greatest assets are our faculty and staff, and I am certain we will not only overcome the challenges we face but be better for them.
