Oct. 14 Ped Day Keynote Speaker: Roger Azevedo, Ph.D.

Dr. Azevedo is a Professor in the School of Modeling Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida. He is also an affiliated faculty in the Departments of Computer Science and Internal Medicine at the University of Central Florida and the lead scientist for the Learning Sciences Faculty Cluster Initiative. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from McGill University and completed his postdoctoral training in Cognitive Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. His main research area includes examining the role of cognitive, metacognitive, affective, and motivational self-regulatory processes during learning with advanced learning technologies (e.g., intelligent tutoring systems, hypermedia, multimedia, simulations, serious games, immersive virtual learning environments). He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and refereed conference proceedings in the areas of educational, learning, cognitive, educational, and computational sciences. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the recipient of the prestigious Early Faculty Career Award from the National Science Foundation.

Cathy Roy honoured with SALTISE Award for College Instructors

Since joining Dawson in 2015, Cathy Roy has sparked an excitement for new adventures in pedagogy, fostering greater collaboration and creativity within the Physiotherapy Technology Department.

Her ingenuity has won her a 2022 SALTISE Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovators Award, which she will receive at the 11th edition of the鈥疭ALTISE Conference鈥痮n June 2-3.

Support Staff Training Day is May 24

May 18th, 2022

Support Staff Training Day is this coming Tuesday, May 24 from 8:50 a.m. 鈥 4:30 p.m. online. It will feature a variety of workshops and plenary speaker Julien R. Johnson (pictured) from Project 10. They will help us understand diversity of gender, sex and sexual orientation. Julien is the person behind Dawson鈥檚 gender neutral bathrooms.

Denise M. Brend will present a Trauma Informed Care approach in communicating and working with students and colleagues. Denise currently teaches at Universit茅 Laval and is a former Dawson teacher.
