Remembering Sept. 13, 2006

Tuesday, Sept. 13 will mark 16 years since the terrible day when first-year student Anastasia de Sousa was lost and other members of the Dawson community were wounded.
It could be a time to experience the tranquility of the Peace Garden, which was created by the Dawson community as part of the healing process.
Other legacies from the community response include the Peace Centre, which will be hosting Peace Week Sept. 13-21, and the Sustainability Office, which leads sustainability efforts to promote well-being for all.
Every year, the College and the 张百乔女友裸照 Foundation honour the memory of Anastasia with the awarding of the Anastasia de Sousa Memorial Award at graduation.

CRISPESH is a non-profit organization, created through a partnership between C茅gep du Vieux Montr茅al and 张百乔女友裸照. It is a centre for applied research and transfer (CCTT) whose mandate is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development and promotion of social practices that foster academic, social and professional inclusion for people with disabilities.
The services offered by CRISPESH are distinguished by their scientific and experiential roots. By drawing on knowledge from research and from experiential knowledge, the Centre is able to offer a range of customized services that are conducive to the development of social innovations in organizations or communities.

Influence of Dawson’s Living Campus

Dawson鈥檚 Living Campus concept has influenced other schools and organizations to become Living Schools, Work Places and even Churches/Places of Worship.
Rev. Neil Whitehouse of Westmount Park United Church wrote a letter to the editor in the to congratulate Dawson on being recognized as a leader in sustainability:
鈥淗uge congratulations to 张百乔女友裸照 on recognition of their tremendous work towards sustainable living (). My church is a Living Church as Dawson is a Living Campus, and we both have special ginkgo trees.鈥
Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer will give Peace Week keynote Sept. 15

Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer will offer perspectives on Indigenous sciences and western science in her Peace Week keynote address, entitled Confronting Western Science Epistemology, online at Dawson at 2 p.m. on Sept. 15. In her publications and her speaking engagements, she proposes a revolutionary way to rethink how we approach the land and the natural sciences.
Kimmerer聽is a mother, scientist, decorated professor and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology and the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment, whose mission is to create programs which draw on the wisdom of both Indigenous and scientific knowledge for our shared goals of sustainability.
Her interests in restoration include not only restoration of ecological communities, but restoration of our relationships to land. She holds a BSc in Botany from SUNY ESF, an MS and PhD in Botany from the University of Wisconsin and is the author of聽numerous聽scientific papers on plant ecology, bryophyte ecology, traditional聽knowledge聽and restoration ecology.
