Plans for Orange Shirt Day leading up to Sept. 30

This fall, Dawson will host several events leading up to, and in observance of Sept. 30, Orange T-Shirt Day-National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

A dedicated team of students, faculty, professionals, and support staff, in consultation with Indigenous advisors, will organize these events with the goal of providing learning opportunities and raising awareness about decolonization and the importance of this day.

Support (resources, ideas, suggestions for speakers) is available for faculty who would like to include the theme of residential schools, the Truth and Reconciliation Report, or other decolonization topics in their course.听

Director General Diane Gauvin and Academic Dean Rob Cassidy wish to warmly welcome everyone back after summer holidays on Wednesday, Aug. 17 with a Dawson community lunch. It will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will take place in 3C.1.听


Flame of Hope to arrive at Dawson鈥檚 Peace Garden June 6

A casual gathering/interfaith prayer with the , a symbol of the desire for peace around the world, will take place at Dawson's Peace Garden on Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m.

Ivan Freud of the Peace Studies Certificate will be there to welcome the Flame of Hope and the Dawson Community is invited to join him.

The Flame of Hope arrived in North America in the fall and was blessed at St. Joseph鈥檚 Oratory before going on to the U.S.


Dawson team wins Sportsmanship prize at Robotics competition

May 18th, 2022

The Dawson Robotics team brought home the Sportsmanship prize from the multidisciplinary CRC Robotics' Arcanum 2022 competition held from April 28 to 30 at the 脡cole Cur茅-Antoine-Labelle. The team also won first place in the video production category and second in the programming and kiosks competition.

Dawson community enjoyed being together again at BBQ

It was so nice to have a big Dawson community event for the first time in more than two years! More than 800 students and employees were treated to ice cream and almost the same number enjoyed a BBQ meal outside on campus May 10. Food was served by our cafeteria staff and from food trucks and there was live music.

Thanks to Campus Life and Leadership, Student Services, the Dawson Student Union, Facilities Management, Information Systems and Technology and Director General Diane Gauvin!

Birdwatchers wanted early mornings of May 11 & 18!

More than 50 species of birds have been spotted on Dawson grounds and we would like to invite new and experienced birdwatchers to come and help identify migrating and resident species that have stopped to eat or rest on Dawson鈥檚 green city block. With your help, we can add more birds to our list!

Vernissage Season is May 19-June 2!

It’s the first-ever SPACE Week at Dawson

It鈥檚 the first-ever SPACE (Sciences Participating with Arts and Culture in Education) Week at Dawson!

From robotics demos to a collective drawing activity, the entire Dawson community is invited to experience exhibitions, project displays, interactive activities and more presented by the student enrichment initiative SPACE, which promotes exploration, discussion, and collaboration beyond the classroom and across disciplines.

As part of this week, Dawson Science student Michael Bomba unveiled an electric guitar he built from scratch in tribute to the Fender Broadcaster, or "The Blackguard", which was the prototype for the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitars in the late '40s.
