The Journal de Montréal, the Journal de Québec and TVA Nouvelles (all owned by Quebecor Inc.) created a ranking of public cegeps across Quebec and released several reports and a special booklet Feb. 14-15.

In the lead-up to the application deadline of March 1, the Journal de Québec education reporter obtained data from theMinistère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur about three pre-university programs and the 10 most popular technical programs to create 13 rankings of all the public cegeps in Quebec.

According to Quebecor, ŰŮ ranks #1 in Science, #1 in Social Science and #2 in Mechanical Engineering Technology. “We are certainly proudof the work of all our employees who work so hard and are truly dedicated to our students,” said Richard Filion, Director General of ŰŮ. “However, the quality of education is rather complex and one must consider many factors.”

Quebecor used only one indicator in their rankings: the graduation rate of Cohort A (the students who enter cegep straight from high school). Dawson’s Quality Assurance and Planning Office reviewed the data and has concerns about the way the data was processed.
