Exit Profile

Graduates of the Illustration Program will apply practical knowledge and creative ideas to produce effective illustrations for commercial purposes. Graduates will be able to:

  • Integrate into the workforce as illustrators, either as freelancers, employees or self-employed small business operators;
  • Identify, research and analyze client needs and goals;
  • Conceptualize and communicate art and design proposals;
  • Adapt to client needs and evolving methods and technologies;
  • Work effectively, methodically, and ethically, both autonomously and in teams;
  • Create and coordinate a variety of illustration projects from concept to completion;
  • Produce a portfolio for application to entry-level positions or freelance work in the industry;
  • Critique their own work and that of others;
  • Take responsibility for sustaining personal health and well-being;
  • Communicate effectively in English and functionally in French, particularly in the field of illustration;
  • Understand literature as an exploration of human experience;
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrate an awareness of worldviews and cultural diversity;
  • Understand how culture, context and visual literacy inform illustration practices;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues and adhere to ethical and legal practices established in the field of illustration.
