Exit Profile
Graduates of the Illustration Program will apply practical knowledge and creative ideas to produce effective illustrations for commercial purposes. Graduates will be able to:
- Integrate into the workforce as illustrators, either as freelancers, employees or self-employed small business operators;
- Identify, research and analyze client needs and goals;
- Conceptualize and communicate art and design proposals;
- Adapt to client needs and evolving methods and technologies;
- Work effectively, methodically, and ethically, both autonomously and in teams;
- Create and coordinate a variety of illustration projects from concept to completion;
- Produce a portfolio for application to entry-level positions or freelance work in the industry;
- Critique their own work and that of others;
- Take responsibility for sustaining personal health and well-being;
- Communicate effectively in English and functionally in French, particularly in the field of illustration;
- Understand literature as an exploration of human experience;
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrate an awareness of worldviews and cultural diversity;
- Understand how culture, context and visual literacy inform illustration practices;
- Demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues and adhere to ethical and legal practices established in the field of illustration.
