Course Description: Students will acquire a general knowledge of the interrelationships with regards to design, specification, tender call, bid evaluation, construction contracts, supervision and claims. They will learn and understand the structure and methodology of drafting a technical specification. Students will produce technical specifications for excavation and earth work, concrete, steel and wood structures. |

Course Description: Topics in this course include: cement and concrete industries, types of concrete - plain, reinforced, pre-cast and pre-stressed, selection and design of concrete mixes, air-entrainment and additives, sampling and testing of fresh concrete, ready-mixed and site-mixed concrete, transporting, placing, finishing and curing concrete, hot weather and cold weather concreting, testing hardened concrete, concrete mix design using computer programs. |

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce and demonstrate to the students the technical design of infrastructure projects such as drinking water purification plants and water distribution systems. It introduces to the students the basic principles of hydraulics as applied to the design, analysis, and operation of water distribution systems. It shall familiarize the students with the environmental laws, regulations and directives for water to protect public health. As well, the students will examine strategies that increase the water efficiency in cities to minimize the environmental impact on natural water resources. |
