Sync

May 2 and May 9, 2016

SYNC – the final project for the two ÌýÕÅ°ÙÇÇÅ®ÓÑÂãÕÕ CinemaÌýÌýdepartment Multimedia Production classes, is a modern take on television production. Modeled after TV shows like the Daily Show with John Stewart and Saturday Night Live, it focuses on the lives of generation Z (our students).
SYNC was taped in front of a live audience in Oliver’s on May 2nd. Then it was screened publically in Oliver’s on May 9th. This work was an excellent opportunity for students to actively use all the knowledge they had gained in the Cinema/Communications program. With this project, students, directly involved in the coordination, were given the opportunity to help plan and execute a major TV production, as well as to write, direct and then edit all of the content. The students worked on segment content throughout the semester. These include: STREET TALK, clips gathered by interviewing people on the street about SYNCs various themes; COUCH POTATOES, an innovative movie review segment pairing two Bill and Ted types against two eccentric art house types; MUSIC ACTIV, providing music for the event in the form of a battle of the battle of the AuxCord; PEON, a job interview skit showing the pathetic state of jobs and interview anxiety for gen Z; TINDERtalk, a revelatory bit based on students experiments with the online dating site Tinder; YUMTREAL, a food review initiative overseeing refreshments based on weekly explorations in food around the city. YUMTREAL also provided wholesome and delicious food to the crew and audience during the shoot and playback screening.
