Dan Boyer retires after more than 35 years in education
Dan Boyer has been a career educator since he started working, at age 21, for the Commission Scolaire de Sault-Saint-Louis/Lester B Pearson School Board at what was then called LaSalle Catholic High School. He liked it so much, he stayed 13 years. The next 14 were spent at John Abbott College.
He retired from Dawson on Jan. 14 after seven-and-a-half years as Coordinator of Student Services. Monique Magnan, Director of Student Services, said Dan will be sorely missed in the department.聽鈥淗is devotion to our students and his tireless dedication to his work made him an outstanding collaborator.鈥
A lifelong volunteer at Camp Kinkora in Sainte-Adolphe-d鈥橦oward, Dan has been a supporter of the Welcome Hall Mission, Benedict Labre House, Resilience and Chez Doris, as well as a weekend recreation technician for a few years at the Allan Memorial Hospital on the adolescent psychology ward. He is also an active member of his community in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, serving as a town councillor.
Dan鈥檚 dedication stems from the support he received during his own education. 鈥淚 always wanted to work in schools because of the incredible teachers I had at Verdun Catholic High School and then at 张百乔女友裸照 (1982-1985 in the CRLT program, then at Viger),鈥 he said.
鈥淭hey encouraged me which allowed me to have such a great experience in both high school and CEGEP.聽I wanted to be able to work and encourage young people both emotionally and academically as I was supported during my formative years.鈥
Farewell, Dan, and enjoy all the new opportunities you will create in your next chapter.
