The F茅d茅ration des c茅geps awarded its Prix du m茅rite to Keven Chan and Cristian David, students in Mechanical Engineering Technology, at the provincial final of 22nd annual science competition Science, on tourne! held this past weekend at Vanier College.

Valued at $1,000 the award recognizes the team that submitted the best oral presentation, performance and design of its project, as well as the team that used the most recycled material in the construction of its engine.

The challenge this year was 芦 Pousse mais pousse 茅gal 禄 to build an engine that could launch a projectile as far as possible while at the same time propelling itself in the opposite direction toward a precise target. Keven Chan and Cristian David achieved this with their engine named Timber Techs.

The red and black high-performance and ingenious machine was built from an old bed frame that surprised everyone with the clarity of its design, its elegance and its sturdiness.

Dawson Physics teacher Nadim Boukhira co-hosted the day-long competition and the award ceremony with Jean-Philippe G茅linas, a Math teacher at Vanier. The pair proved to be informative and highly entertaining with interesting scientific information and surprising trivia. There was a lot of praise of their performance throughout the day.

Congratulations to Keven and Cristian and to the faculty and staff of Mechanical Engineering Technology!
