Moridja Kitenge Banza: Chiromancies / Palm Readings

Accomplished multimedia artist Moridja Kitenge Banza presents new paintings and work in video exploring the interstices of personal, cultural, and global politics.聽 聽His work often blurs reality and fiction, calling into question narratives of history , memory, and identity.聽 Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1980, he studied at the聽Acad茅mie des Beaux-arts de Kinshasa, and then at the聽脡cole R茅gionale des Beaux-arts de Nantes, France.

In 2010 he was awarded First Prize at the Dakar Biennale, Senegal, for his video聽Hymne 脿 nous and installation De 1848 脿 nos jours.聽 The next year his work was shown at the Roskilde Contemporary Art Museum in Denmark.聽 His work has also been presented at the first Casablanca biennale, the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa, the Biblioth猫que nationale in Montreal, and Picasso en face-脿-face d’hier 脿 aujourd’hui at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.聽 聽
